From Fossils to Flowers

Dr Kirk Johnson, Curator of Paleontology, Denver Museum of Nature and Science and Dr. Robert Raynolds from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science gave an interpretative presentation of the paleontology dig on South Table Mountain during the summer, 2000. Dr. Raynolds showed pictures of plant and animal fossils that lived during the cretaceous period (64-66 million years ago) on and near South Table Mountain.

Lorraine Yeatts- Botanist (who is an expert on the current plant species of the South Table Mountains) has identified and catalogued more than 335 plant species on South Table Mountain during her nearly 20 years of research. Her extensive plant collections are part of the Denver Botanical Gardens plant library catalog of Colorado Plants. She will gave an interpretative presentation and it included a small selection of her many pictures of these flowering plants.

Come out and learn a little more about The Table Mountains. There is no charge for this event and all are welcome!
